In Karen State, residents of Kawkareik said that the immigration office in Kawkareik was attacked and torched.
According to propaganda posts by the military-support Telegram news channel, the KKO (Secession) and PDF forces stormed and set fire to the immigration office on Ward No. 7, Bodhi Kyaung Road last September 27th at around 11:50 p.m.
Due to this arson attack, the district immigration inspector’s office and the office of the Population Department were burnt by the following of the Kawkareik residents.
“I didn’t hear anything at night. The office was fired at around 11:00 a.m. and the flames were big. So the fire trucks didn’t dare to come. As for the immigration office, many burned down. The people who torched took off as soon as they did,” said a resident of Kawkareik.”
Regarding the burning down of the immigration office, we, People’s Radio Myanmar, contacted the local column to inquire, but there was no reply.
Due to the burning of the immigration office in Kawkareik, on the morning of September 28, the infantry regiment (97) of the Military Council Army fired heavy weapons toward Asia Road and Kamai Kone, according to a local from Kamai Kone village.
“All the shops were closed because of the continuous shooting and it was shot by infantry regiment 97. It’s been about 2 days long. When they were shooting, the exchange fire was too close to the villagers’ shops, so the market had to be closed,” said a resident of Kamai Kone village.
Moreover, the places where the military council is stationed and the departmental offices under the Military Council in the Kawkareik, Kyondoe, Kyar Inn Seik Gyi, Myawaddy, Payathonzu, and Hpapun from Karen State, are often bombed and arson attacked as well by the local revolutionary forces.
Additionally, according to local news sources, the immigration office in Hpapun in Karen State was bombed and damaged by fire last August 11th, at around 11:30 p.m.
