In Karen State, the drivers reported that only 30 vehicles are allowed to go through on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia road a day, causing traffic jams.
Near the Taw Naw Waterfall on Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Road, the road collapsed due to constant rainfall last August 7th.
Currently, the damaged section of Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia road has been repaired, and the road can be used again, but only about 30 cars are allowed to go through per day, according to the drivers.
“They don’t want to allow vehicles that came back from Myawaddy and 20 or 30 vehicles a day to go through come and back since the day the road can be used again,” said a driver.
According to a motorist, a Bailey bridge has been built on the repaired road after the collapse of the road near Taw Naw Waterfall but the bridge is not wide enough to go through and then caused traffic.
“The road is passable. But the bridge is narrow and can go one vehicle each time. That’s why the roads are blocked from the exit of the Kawkareik to the mountain now,” he said.
In addition to the traffic jams, along the Myawaddy- Kawkareik Asia road, the BGF unit under the military council is collecting money, getting motorists in trouble according to the drivers.
There are traffic jams on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Road and due to excessive tolls which were collecting money, the prices of goods in the market transported by vehicles traveling on the road have increased dramatically.
