In Karen State, according to local residents of Hpapun Township, the KNLA joint forces raided the Hpapun police station under the Military Council in Hpapun Township.
The KNLA joint forces raided the Hpapun police station under the Military Council regime on August 23rd at around 5:00 AM and subsequently, there was a clash between the BGF forces under the military council and the KNLA joint forces, said a local man.
“This morning, I heard that KNLA joint forces attacked the Hpapun police station. They raided and attacked some places in the town where with military security since 5 o’clock this morning, and it is not over yet,” he said.
In addition, during the last night of August 22, the Military Council troops were firing heavy weapons through the night the out of the town, he added.
“At night, the army has been firing heavy weapons outside the town all night long,” he said.
But a local man said that at around 11:00 a.m., he no longer heard the sounds of firing from both sides.
The Hpapun police station under the Military Council was raided and attacked, and the exact amount of casualties and damage is not yet known.
Last August 11, due to the landmine explosion at the District Administrator ’s residence, the Immigration Office, Auditor’s office, and Legal office, buildings significantly were damaged and destroyed.
Residents said that because the military council’s departmental offices in Hpapun township are often attacked by mines, most of the military council’s adminnistrators and civil servants from Hpapun township have moved to Kama Maung Town and are continuing to work for the military council.
The townships in Karen State, such as Myawaddy, Kawkareik, Kyondoe, Kyar Inn Seik Gyi, Hpapun, and Than Daung Gyi, according to KNLA sources, there are almost daily skirmishes between the military council army and the KNLA joint forces.
