In the Tanintharyi Region, according to residents fleeing the war, the military council troops based in Yebyu Township and Ka Lein Aung Township, which entered the Yehyu Township with a force of more than 300, torched and destroyed the houses in Wa Zwan Taw village, looted some houses and took away some valuables.
The soldiers of the military council are entering and leaving each village in Yebyu township. On the 11th and 12th of last August, a woman fleeing the war said that they entered the village of Wa Zwan Taw and burned down at least 3 houses.
“They are going in and out of each village. Now we know that houses in our village have been torched and it’s still impossible to enter the village, and then not knowing whose houses have gone. All of them are worried,” she said.
When the military council soldiers were searching the wood, they clashed with the locals and took the gold from the locals. Besides, the military council troops opened fire, and a citizen was injured by a bullet, she said.
“Because they avoided war, they brought all the gold and silver they have. As the soldiers searched the wood, they took gold and silver. When the soldiers fired shots to frighten, a woman was injured by a bullet,” she said.
Among the people arrested by the military council included women. But fortunately, the women were immediately released by the military regime, and more than 40 men were arrested. At present, 8 residents have been arrested and the rest have been released, according to the man who was arrested.
“There are a lot of people who have been arrested. There are also women. The women were immediately released. More than 40 men were caught all the way. Now the 8 have not been released. The rest have been released,” he said.
At present, war refugees are fleeing to quiet areas and the military council soldiers are searching the forest, so they are afraid to live in forests and orchards, said a woman who is helping war refugees in Yebyu Township.
“They’re staying in the quieter areas on this side. They were fleeing in the forest, but now the column is trampling the forest and trying to tear it apart, so it is very difficult for them to avoid the war. They had to run amid the sound of gunfire. The news didn’t reach them well, so they had to run thoughtlessly,” she said.
The military council soldiers who are entering the Nabule area in a column are the military council soldiers stationed at the deep sea port in the Nabule area and the Light Infantry Battalion ( LIB-407) based in Yebyu, Light Infantry Battalion( LIB-408) based in KaLein Aung and Khalara 282 from the based battalion.
According to local news sources, more than 3,000 residents of 8 villages have been fleeing because the military council troops have entered the Nabule area with a large force since last August 8. In the current situation, the soldiers of the military council have left Ya Laing village, and due to the breaking into the houses and destroying houses in Pu Gaw Zun village, there was a circumstance of the villagers hasn’t returned to their homes. On August 14th, at around 10:00 this morning, a person who fled the war contracted malaria and died because he didn’t get medical treatment, according to residents and people helping the war refugees.
