On July 19 2023 , around 9:30 pm,the junta army conducted the aerial bombardment in the area around Kawkareik township in Karen State.
In the morning of the 19July, a clash broke out between the Military Council Army and KNLA joint forces near the village of Kawtnwe, Kawkareik Township.
The local villagers said that “ the army of the military council, which was involved in this encounter, continuously fired heavy weapons at the villages around Kawkareik Township and continued the aerial bombarded at night as well.”
According to a resident of Kawkareik Township, “an aircraft came down at night and dropped two bombs on the side of Kyar Inn Seik Gyi Township and then shook the house but no one harms. The bombs fell outside the village and exploded.”
After the battle near the Kawtnwe village, 5 residents from the Tada- U Ward were injured due to the heavy weapons of the military council army.
At present, the Myawaddi-Kawkareik Asia Highway has been closed due to the highly tense situation between the Military Council Army and the KNLA joint forces in Kawkareik.
“The road from Kawkareik to Myawaddi has been blocked by a crane ,effectively halting cars and other vehicles and also all the roads have also been closed.
The situation in Kawkareik town isn’t going well .” said the resident.
Battles between the military council forces and the KNLA forces in towns like Myawaddi, Kawkareik, Than Daung, and Hpapun in Karen State, and firing heavy weapons and conducting aerial bombardment by the brutal military army on the villages,were continued almost every day.
